EV Charger Installations
Charge Your Electric Vehicle at Home or at Work
A dedicated Level 2 charger delivers significantly faster charge times than a standard power point, with most vehicles reaching full capacity overnight. For businesses, offering on-site EV charging is quickly becoming an expectation from employees, customers, and tenants.
At Mountain Breeze, we assess your switchboard capacity, recommend the right charger for your vehicle and usage, and carry out a clean, compliant installation. If you already have solar, we can integrate your charger so you are effectively driving on free, clean energy from your own roof.
Why Install a Dedicated EV Charger
Faster Charging at Home
A dedicated Level 2 EV charger delivers significantly faster charge times compared to a standard power point. Most vehicles can be fully charged overnight, ready to go each morning.
Lower Running Costs
Charging at home - especially from solar - costs a fraction of public fast-charging rates or petrol. Pairing an EV charger with a solar system makes electric driving one of the cheapest ways to get around.
Add Value to Your Property
A professionally installed EV charger is an increasingly attractive feature for buyers and tenants. As EV adoption grows, a charge-ready property stands out in the market.
Seamless Solar Integration
If you already have solar panels, an EV charger lets you direct surplus daytime energy straight into your vehicle. You are effectively driving on sunshine - at zero fuel cost and zero emissions.
EV Charger Installations - FAQs
What type of EV charger do I need?
For most residential applications, a single-phase 7kW charger is ideal – it fully charges most vehicles overnight. For commercial sites or larger vehicles, three-phase chargers up to 22kW are available. We will recommend the right option based on your vehicle, property, and electrical supply.
Can I charge my EV from my solar panels?
Yes, and we strongly recommend it. When your solar system is generating power during the day, your EV charger can draw directly from that supply. Some smart chargers can even be programmed to prioritise solar energy over grid power.
Will I need a switchboard upgrade for an EV charger?
Possibly. EV chargers draw a significant load, and older switchboards may not have the capacity or safety features required. We assess your board during the consultation and include any necessary upgrade work in your quote.
Where should the charger be installed?
Most home chargers are installed in the garage or carport, close to where the vehicle is parked. For commercial properties, we can install chargers in car parks, driveways, or dedicated charging bays. We will survey your property to find the best location.
How long does an EV charger installation take?
A straightforward residential installation typically takes three to four hours. If switchboard upgrades or additional cabling is needed, it may take a little longer. We will confirm the timeline as part of your quote.
